Weathercam Technical Info:

The heart of our weathercam page is a wireless DAVIS VANTAGE PRO2 weatherstation, which transmits current weather data to a console inside our house. The inside console display relays (wireless) the information to a Davis Weather Envoy connected via a USB cable to a Dell desktop computer. We use Ambient's 'Virtual Weather Station' (VWS) software to upload the data to this website every five minutes. It is then displayed on the weathercam page. The Davis equipment and more are available directly from Vernier Software & Technology.

The webcam image of Downtown Portland is linked to KATU Television's webcam mounted atop a tower on the east side of the Willamette River, located at the north end of the Marquam Bridge, on the Eastbank Esplanade. The view is of the Willamette River and downtown Portland. The satellite and radar images are linked from the National Weather Service website served from Portland, Oregon.

The West Hills Weathercam is located on SW Mitchell Lane in Portland's West Hills. This station has been collecting weather data since June 1998. It can be found at the residence of John Becker and Dianne Rodway.
